Radio

A promo is a template, a voice, and a bed.

This is the Audition-style job: multitrack, markers, then a file the station can take. It does not use the video switcher.

Start

  1. Open Studio and sign in. Express can edit too. The WideOrbit hand-off is a Studio export.
  2. File → Session Templates → Promo, or Commercial Spot if it is a paid read. The template opens with Save As so you do not overwrite the original.
  3. Name the session after the promo, not "Untitled".

Build it

  1. Drag the voice onto the voice lane and the music onto the bed lane. A station ID or a stinger gets its own lane if you have one.
  2. Space plays and pauses. Stop returns to where you pressed play.
  3. Move and trim until the voice sits in the clear and the bed ducks under it. Promo templates already set the bed to duck under the voice.
  4. While it plays, press I where the automation should start the song out of the intro, and E where the spot ends.
  5. Right-click a clip → Time & Pitch if it has to hit :15, :30 or :60.

Export

  1. WideOrbit WAV when the file has to drop into automation: 44.1 kHz, 16-bit, stereo, with the cart data and the intro and end markers.
  2. WAV or MP3 when a person is the destination, not a playout system.
  3. Demo Mode does not export. Subscribe, then export.

Pan. Double-click the pan knob to center it. Right-click the knob to type a value, such as L 20 or C. The tooltip says Pan.
